Getting to Maniero: Airports, Flights and Transfers for Your Wedding Guests
Which airport for a Le Marche wedding? Ancona is 40 minutes from Maniero; Rome, Bologna, Perugia and Pescara work too. Flights, trains and transfers.

The nearest airport to Maniero is Ancona Falconara (AOI), 40 minutes by car. Perugia is about an hour away, Pescara about 1 hour 45, Bologna 2 hours and Rome 2,5 to 3 hours. Guests from the UK can often fly straight into the region, while guests from the US and Canada usually land in Rome and drive over, or connect through a European hub to Ancona or Bologna.
That's the short version. Here's the longer one, written for the friend who texts "so… where exactly is this?" the day your save-the-dates land.
Which airport should your guests fly into?
Le Marche sits on the Adriatic side of central Italy, so there are more options than people expect. Here's how they compare from Maniero:
| Airport | By car to Maniero | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Ancona Falconara (AOI) | 40 min | The closest. A small airport with a handful of routes, several of them seasonal |
| Perugia (PEG) | about 1 h | Seasonal flights from London in summer |
| Pescara (PSR) | about 1 h 45 | Flights to London Stansted |
| Bologna (BLQ) | about 2 h | A big European network, plus fast trains to Ancona |
| Rome Fiumicino (FCO) | 2,5–3 h | The main door for guests from North America |
One honest warning before the details: flight routes change every season. The ones below were running in 2026. Check the current schedule before you put anything on your wedding website.
Flying in from the UK
You're in luck. Ryanair has flown between London Stansted and Ancona through the 2025/26 winter and the 2026 summer timetable, which puts your London guests 40 minutes from the villa. Perugia had daily Ryanair flights to Stansted from late March to late October 2026, plus seasonal British Airways flights to Heathrow between May and September. Pescara has flights to Stansted too.
For guests outside London, Bologna is usually the easiest backup: it has far more routes, and the fastest Frecciarossa trains run from Bologna to Ancona in under two hours.
Flying in from the US and Canada
Most North American guests will land in Rome. Fiumicino has a lot of transatlantic flights: at peak in 2026 the airport counts up to 42 daily departures to 22 destinations in North America, including new routes from Seattle and Houston. From Toronto, Air Canada, ITA Airways and Air Transat all fly nonstop to Rome, some of them seasonally.
From Rome there are three ways to reach us:
- Drive. About 2,5 to 3 hours across the Apennines. A lovely drive, though maybe not straight off a red-eye. More on that below.
- Connect. Small domestic flights link Ancona with Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate, so a guest landing in Rome can often fly on to Ancona the same day. Check the timings first.
- Bus or train. Direct coaches run from Rome to Macerata, some from Fiumicino itself. The train works too, but Rome to Ancona takes from about 3,5 hours, usually with a change.
Another option for US and Canadian guests is to connect through a European hub such as London, Amsterdam or Frankfurt and fly on to Ancona, Bologna or Perugia. One extra flight, much less driving.

Guests from the rest of Europe
Ancona has a few more summer routes worth knowing about. In summer 2026 Ryanair also flew from Ancona to Brussels Charleroi and Düsseldorf-Weeze, which is handy for guests from Belgium, Germany and the eastern Netherlands. Volotea is opening a base in Ancona in December 2026, with routes announced to Paris Orly, Barcelona and Madrid. Perugia has Transavia flights to Rotterdam. And again, Bologna is the safe bet when nothing lines up.
Trains, cars and the last few kilometres
Should your guests rent a car? For most, yes. Maniero sits in the countryside, 4 minutes from the old town of Montecassiano, and a car makes it easy to reach the beaches of Sirolo and Numana (25 minutes) on the days around the wedding.
Prefer the train? From Ancona airport, Castelferretti station is a five-minute walk from arrivals. From Ancona, trains run to Macerata, sometimes with a change at Civitanova Marche. From there it's a short taxi ride to us. It works, but with luggage and a suit bag it's a commitment.
Transfers on the wedding weekend
Here's how it works at Maniero. Eighteen of your people sleep in the villa. Everyone else stays at our two partner hotels: Villa Quiete in Montecassiano, 4 minutes away, and Relais La Colombaia, 10 minutes away. The essentials in our Wedding brochure 2029 include a taxi shuttle on the two event days, so guests at other hotels can get back and forth without anyone worrying about driving after the open bar.
Airport transfers are not part of the essentials. If you want a coach from Rome or minivans from Ancona, your wedding planner books them with a local transport company, who quotes and invoices you directly. For a big group landing at the same airport on the same day, one coach is often simpler than twenty rental cars.

A few travel tips for your guests
- Tell them early. A destination wedding needs save-the-dates 10 to 12 months ahead, so guests can catch the best flights. Our planning timeline has the rest.
- Arrive Thursday. The weekend starts Friday with the pizza and spritz party. Overseas guests will enjoy it a lot more after a night's sleep.
- Make a weekend of it. Le Marche rewards an extra day or two. Point your guests to our list of things to do near Maniero.
- Share one simple page. Airports, your hotel blocks, shuttle times and a pin for the villa. Your planner can help put it together.
Still have questions about the region, the villa or the weekend? Our FAQ covers the rest, and the wedding venue page shows how the three days work.
